New Year’s Resolutions

It is common theme this time of year to set your New Year’s resolutions. You know the things we say we are going to do and three months later, we become distracted with what is in front of us and those resolutions we were so gung-ho about seem to fall off the map. Things like taxes, work deadlines, family responsibilities, stress and the like seem to melt those resolutions away and we tend to be back to square one where we were in years past.
I want to offer some insight on how to better manage your time, become more efficient and ultimately more productive. Does it not sound wonderful to be able to do more in less time and have more time to dedicate to the things we are passionate about? Because let’s be honest, we are all better versions of ourselves when we are pursuing our dreams, fulfilling our passions and working with the people we do our best work with.
Have you ever thought about those ultra successful people and how they seem to be in multiple places at the same time, accomplishing goals while spending time with their family and earning financial stability all while traveling the world and experiencing new cultures? How do they do that? Now traveling around the world may or may not be on your bucket list but who doesn’t want financial stability and more “free? time? Here are a few ideas to help you move in the direction of staying on track and doing what you intend to do at the start of the new year.
I believe and have seen first hand that it is super important to make sure you are checking in with yourself on the daily. Are you setting goals for yourself or are you setting goals for someone else and saying they are YOUR goals? Often times we are exposed to ideas in the media, amongst our peers and so on that don’t necessarily resonate with our core values but it seems as though everyone else is doing it so we tend to tag along.
Believe me, you will find great VALUE in taking some time to sit down and think about the things you value most in your life. Maybe you are passionate about fostering human relationships or think a lot about sustainability and how we can do things to protect our environment or maybe it is none of these things. The point is, you need to SIT DOWN and figure out what you are passionate about. What kind of a world do you stand for? Put it in writing, check in with yourself daily and ask yourself is this moving me in the direction of my purpose? If it is, press forward, if not, maybe it is time to re-evaluate.
We all know how important it is to maintain physical, mental and social well-being. A recent poll of some of the most common New Year’s resolutions are directly related to health. Here is to a New Year of action and achieving the things we so often think about.
